I was swamped during the 2016 Christmas season, so I wasn't sure I'd have the time to write a holiday song for RCR that year. But my close friend, Kat, came down with the flu, so I decided to write a song for her to cheer her up. It also served as an exercise to help with my writer's block, since I tend to just write nonsense to get my brain working again. Ultimately, I liked the melody I came up with for the song, and turned that into "Drifting in the Snow", opting to tell the story of two estranged brothers bonding over their love of automotive shenanigans. I thought about re-recording the vocal from the original version posted on the RCR Soundcloud page, but I kind of like that there are some notes I can't/don't hit properly. It kind of adds to the narrative of the song, for me, sort of like the brother is verklempt.
Anyway, big shout out to Kat for knocking the cobwebs out of my head. You're a lifesaver and one of my favorite people on this planet.
